The debut of Akwa Ibom Tech Week (AKTW) served as the ecosystem’s “big bang” moment. It was the first deliberate step toward organizing fragmented local talent into a cohesive innovation community. Thank you to Inoyo Toro Foundation for their sponsorship.
Ecosystem Mapping: Initiated the state’s first formal census of tech hubs, software developers, and early-stage founders.
Validation of Local Talent: Proved to the region that world-class hardware and software solutions were already being built right here in Uyo.
Youth Positioning: Shifted the mindset of local youth toward global competitiveness and digital literacy.
The inaugural challenge identified high-impact ventures solving critical regional problems with scalable potential:
2021 established the foundation that every subsequent year was built upon:
Initial community trust.
Proof of local problem-solving capabilities.
Seed funding for grassroots builders.
The core message of 2021: The “Land of Promise” is ready to produce.
